On behalf of myself and the entire CEFA team, it is my privilege to extend a big welcome to the Social Auxiliary Work January 2017 intake.

As a Social Worker I love the following phrase which I once saw on the internet, and which is for me, true of every one who embarks on the journey of becoming part of the Social Services Professions: “Today is the day we begin to learn to look through the eyes of others; to find out and experience what the world is like for them. It is also the day we grow bigger than our differences and offer to everyone regardless of historical rights and wrongs, a friendly welcome, a stretched out hand.” I can assure you that all of us at CEFA will take action to help you to achieve your academic goals and life-long learning.

May I also take the opportunity to thank the CEFA team, our assessors, moderators, mentors and everybody else contributing to the lives of these young people. It is your motivation and support that will help to create a year that is bright with embraced opportunities.
However, even more importantly, our learners themselves will have to take action to further their education. Our learners must realise that they cannot merely sit back and expect the greater learning community to do everything for them ? You must realise the importance of self-motivation and be prepared to help yourselves. Make the most of this fantastic educational opportunity that you have. If you do that, then one day, you will be in a position to respond to the pleas of others who may need your help!
