A group of very special young people from Hawston were selected to attend a successful three day Life Skills training course offered by CEFA. The project is sponsored by the Johann & Gaynor Rupert Foundation and took place from 21st March until 24th March. The Hawston Secondary School was kind enough to offer the venue and the project was initiated by Carol Gillion, a much loved and involved member of the Hawston community. Carol is an employee of the Western Cape Department of Education. The enthusiastic young adults learned about taking responsibility for your own live, how thoughts cause feelings and how to communicate effectively. The overall aim of the Life Skills course is not only to empower individuals to embrace life more fully but also to teach them much needed skills for the labour market. The group will also complete courses in business and IT skills as well as HIV awareness within the next four weeks.
